Welcome to the Annual ACAP, HSA & NCPS Conference

The ACAP, HSA & NCPS Annual Conference brings together professionals, academics and students from diverse backgrounds with a common focus: post-secondary education of professionals, particularly in areas of social and health sciences. The conference theme for 2017 is

Educating 21st Century Professionals: Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship

The theme of this year’s conference is the education of professionals in the caring, health, mental health and allied health fields into the present century. We cannot pretend that we can see too far ahead to know what might be required. Seventy years ago the head of IBM “predicted” that there might be a demand for as many as seven computers globally within the next few decades. Twenty- five years ago the internet barely existed. Now doctors and professionals generally use Dr Google to ascertain what is current practice, behaving in many ways akin to our students trying to complete an assignment. Is the behaviour of the learning professional going to be advancing into the utilisation of ever increasing and demanding electronic support? Or is there a need for the professional to be re-trained in the skills of critical thinking and utilisation of processes from the professionals of the past. This conference offers the opportunity for all educators and supporting professionals of ACAP, HAS and NCPS to address the issues that they see as important and share their thoughts, predictions and putative solutions with others to help us all adjust to what may be to come. Papers embracing all media, oral, print, media and virtual are invited to help members of the community of scholars to attune themselves to the challenges that are likely to be forthcoming; to educate ourselves to be able to educate future professionals.

The 2017 Conference will be held at the Australian College of Applied Psychology Sydney campus located in the heart of the bustling Sydney CBD on Monday 30th October. ACAP, HSA & NCPS have a proud history of educating students with skills for making a difference, and the conference aims to bring together the ACAP, HSA & NCPS learning community including students, academics and teaching staff, together with managers, policy makers, practitioners, and researchers from the broader community.

ACAP, NCPS, HSA and ATTC are colleges in the Navitas Professional Institute (NPI). NPI is a part of the Navitas Professional and English Programs (PEP) division of Navitas Limited.
